The difference between reverse osmosis pure water equipment and ultrafiltration water purification equipment

At present, there are two main types of mainstream water purification products on the market: ultrafiltration water purifiers and RO water purifiers. What are the specific differences between ultrafiltration water purifiers and RO water purifiers?

Ultrafiltration water purifier refers to equipment that uses ultrafiltration technology to purify water.

RO water purifier (also known as RO reverse osmosis water purifier/RO water purifier) is a water purifier that uses the principles of reverse osmosis technology for water filtration.

Different filtering accuracy

Ultrafiltration membrane is a microporous filtration membrane with consistent pore size specifications and a rated pore size range of 0.01-0.001 microns.

The pore size of reverse osmosis membranes is mostly 1 nanometer (1nm=10 ^ -9m), and their separation targets are dissolved ions and organic compounds with molecular weights of several hundred or more.

Different working principles

Ultrafiltration is a screening process using membrane separation technology, driven by the pressure difference on both sides of the membrane and using the ultrafiltration membrane as the filtering medium. Under a certain pressure excitation, when the raw liquid flows through the membrane surface, the dense micropores on the surface of the ultrafiltration membrane only allow water and small molecule substances to pass through and become the permeable liquid. Substances in the raw liquid with a volume greater than the micropores on the membrane surface are intercepted on the inlet side of the membrane, becoming the concentrated liquid, thus achieving the purification of the raw liquid The purpose of separation and concentration.

Reverse osmosis technology is a process in which water molecules (H2O) can pass through the RO membrane under a certain pressure, while impurities such as inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic compounds, colloids, viruses, etc. in the source water cannot pass through the RO membrane, resulting in the separation of a portion of water through the RO membrane. Unpenetrated water forms concentrated water due to the increase of solute.

The minerals retained in the effluent of the ultrafiltration water purifier can cause scaling when heated, but the RO water purifier can remove soluble conductive ions from the water, so there is no scaling.

Different usage conditions

Under normal circumstances, ultrafiltration water purifiers do not require electricity, while R0 pure water machines generally require electricity, and the booster pump may make some noise during rough operation.

Different production wastewater

The ultrafiltration water purifier only produces a small amount of flushing water during the backwashing process, while the RO pure water machine produces flushing water during the water production and backwashing processes, which is also known as wastewater in the market.

Different materials

Ultrafiltration water purifiers mainly use filter elements to filter water quality, which also indicates that this product has a relatively high frequency of water treatment. Most ultrafiltration water purifiers use five stage filtration. In addition to using a filter element for filtration, the RO pure water machine also has a pressure bucket and permeation membrane for secondary treatment of water quality.

Different prices

The price of water purification equipment is mainly related to factors such as the material used in the product and the effectiveness of water treatment. Relatively speaking, RO water purifiers are more expensive than ultrafiltration water purifiers.
