生物法除磷是指好氧型在一定条件下会对磷或者偏磷进行硝化分解，一部分磷会被微生物吸收，从而变为微生物污泥；另外一部分磷会被分解转化为为正磷小分子，在后续处理中，还要继续通过化学法将正磷小分子沉淀。从除磷效率来说，生物除磷法并不能把磷处理到低浓度，是因为微生物分解磷的能力有限，是磷残余在微生物的体内会因为新陈代谢而把磷排出。

(2)化学沉淀法：

化学法除磷包括化学沉淀、离子交换、反渗透、电渗析等方法。以化学沉淀法应用广,后几种方法因处理费用太高而难以使用。
